Leveraging health care expertise to strengthen government health programs abroad

Global Health Services

For more than 30 years, MAXIMUS has led a national effort toward connecting people with the government services they need. Our projects typically focus on low income, culturally diverse populations and, for example, interact today with nearly 70 percent of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program populations throughout the United States. Now, MAXIMUS is taking that wealth of experience and translating it to help developing countries strengthen their maturing health systems.

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building

MAXIMUS offers a portfolio of services to US and internationally based donor agencies, as well as ministries of health throughout the developing world. In addition to our own robust staff of clinical and technical experts, we bring together additional subject matter experts, subcontractors, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, and government entities to manage and direct challenging public policy decisions. Our health system strengthening efforts are grounded in:

  • Capacity building for allied health workers
  • Process analysis
  • Health policy development and regulatory framework design
  • Health institution strengthening

We believe firmly that health systems work best when local health authorities are fully vested in them. Although our approach blends project financial integrity, business analysis, quality management, risk identification, and project waste reduction, the seminal attribute of our projects is our communication and collaboration with management. In this way, we:

  • Actively develop and maintain stakeholder buy-in
  • Foster cross functional collaboration
  • Perform early identification and transformation of project inhibitors
  • Achieve open and continuous communications with and across all stakeholders

Our Team Leaders are certified in Project Management using the principles of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Typically, we hire our support staff locally in order to create a lasting, skilled workforce to strengthen the staying power of program initiatives, support economic development and meet local community needs.

Spotlight On: Global Health

We work with governments at all levels to design culturally competent government-assisted programs to achieve improved health outcomes. This experience gives us a unique understanding of the issues global health organizations face as they implement prevention and treatment initiatives.
